Everton manager Frank Lampard is a big admirer of the Chelsea trio of Billy Gilmour, Armando Broja, and Conor Gallagher.
That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest transfer news at Goodison Park, ahead of the final two weeks of the transfer window.
Lampard has welcomed five new faces to the Merseyside club this season, with the former Chelsea manager looking to improve on last season’s 16th placed Premier League finish, and avoid another relegation battle.
However, the club are currently resisting offers from Lampard’s former club for forward Anthony Gordon, with Everton rejecting a £45m bid for the 21-year-old, with the club believed to value the player in excess of £50m.
However, it has previously been suggested that the club could use Lampard’s Chelsea contacts in a bid to move players from Stamford Bridge to Goodison Park, and O’Rourke believes that the club could use the Gordon transfer saga to their advantage.
“Yeah, there’s a possible deal to be done with Chelsea [for Gordon].
“I’m sure Everton might be thinking they could use it to their benefit by getting players in part-exchange.
“We know Frank Lampard is a big admirer of the likes of Billy Gilmour, Armando Broja, and also Conor Gallagher.
TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments
We believe that Lampard’s former connections at Chelsea could work to Everton’s advantage this season, with there definitely being some talent at Stamford Bridge that would improve the quality of the Merseyside club’s squad.
And if the club could get a large transfer fee for Gordon from Chelsea, as well as acquiring one of Gallagher, Broja, or Gilmour in the same transfer, we feel that the Goodison Park club would have gotten the better end of the deal.
Therefore, we believe that Lampard should be imploring the Everton board to suggest a player-exchange option with Chelsea, if the club are willing to part ways with Gordon this summer.
