Journalist Adam Hurrey has been left impressed after hearing that Frank Lampard may have convinced Neal Maupay to join Everton.

According to a recent report by Simon Jones in the Daily Mail, the Brighton and Hove Albion striker is now keen on completing a move to the Toffees following a conversation with the club’s manager.

The article explains that Fulham have agreed a deal with the Seagulls for Maupay, but he prefers Everton instead and is so talks of a £15m deal have been revived.

In reaction to this news, Hurrey took to Twitter to outline his thoughts on the matter, pondering just what the Englishman says over the phone to convince players to join.

He wrote: “Honestly, what does Frank Lampard say on these now-legendary phone calls.”

TIF thoughts on Frank Lampard, Neal Maupay and Everton…

As alluded to by Hurrey, this isn’t the first time Lampard has seemingly been able to convince a player to join Everton following a conversation.

For instance, according to Foot Mercato, the manager spoke to Amadou Onana over the phone when West Ham United were also interested in signing the midfielder and managed to convince him to join his side instead.

If Mapauy does end up signing, despite Brighton already agreeing on a deal with Fulham, this certainly would be an impressive feat from Lampard. The striker would join with good Premier League experience too, having scored 26 goals in 102 outings – and so could well be a solid acquisition.
