Everton are keen on a move for Conor Coady this summer according to Sky Sports News journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

According to 90min, the Toffees have made an approach for the Wolves captain with manager Frank Lampard an admirer of the England international.

The 29-year-old has been a key part of re-establishing the Old Gold in the top flight and started all 38 games last term but while his current employers don’t wish to see him go they are thought to be open to a move if he wants to leave.

In a relegation-threatened campaign, only four teams shipped more goals than the Merseyside club last term and Lampard has already acted to rectify that issue by bringing in James Tarkowski with Coady now firmly on the radar.

As posted on Sky Sports YouTube channel Solhekol discussed the club’s current transfer plans:
(1:11) “Everton want to sign Wolves centre-back Conor Coady and Lille midfielder Amadou Onana. West Ham had also agreed a fee for Onana.”

Should Everton sign Conor Coady?

While Coady may well be a Liverpool academy graduate he could find himself at Goodison Park considering Lampard is seemingly intent on setting up his side in a back five this season.

Meanwhile, given that Wolves have trialed a back four it could raise concern for Coady considering he is said to look ‘suspect’ in that formation.

When Nuno Espirito changed from his stringent wing-back formation in the 2020/21 season the west Midlanders conceded ten goals in four matches with Coady’s display in the fixture against West Brom described as ‘alarming’.

However, the 10-cap England ace could be a shrewd pick-up for the Blues having been heralded for his ‘absolutely magnificent’ ability on the ball and to read a game by Alan Shearer which will be key to Lampard’s tweak and it will be interesting to see how this one develops.
