Podcaster Dan Cook has suggested that the difference in valuation for Crystal Palace target Morgan Gibbs-White could mean a deal for the midfielder will not happen this summer.

The Eagles have done well in the transfer window so far, with the additions of Cheick Doucoure, Chris Richards and Malcolm Ebiowei to name a few, and it looks like they could be looking to make another addition before the end of the window in Gibbs-White.

However, Cook believes that the deal may not come to fruition due to the wide gap between the clubs’ valuations of the player, as Wolves reportedly want a fee in the region of £30m for the England Under-21 star whom Palace were said to be leading the race last month.

Cook said on the HLTCO podcast: “Crystal Palace are interested in signing Morgan Gibbs-White, I’m led to believe, but I think there is still a vast chasm between the two clubs’ valuations of that player, and it may well mean that a transfer doesn’t come to fruition.”

TIF Thoughts on Gibbs-White to Palace…

Palace have already done a wonderful job this summer in the transfer window, and bringing in Gibbs-White could be the cherry on top of the cake for Patrick Vieira ahead of this upcoming season. However, paying over the odds may not be something Palace will do, which could stop this deal from happening.

Gibbs-White impressed last season for Sheffield United in the Championship, picking up 11 goals and nine assists in 35 games, but he has limited Premier League experience, which could be a reason why the Eagles do not want to splash £30m on him.

However, Palace have recently given a lot of Championship players their chance in the top flight, with the likes of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Marc Guehi performing well for them over the last season or two.

While a deal could be far from completion right now, given their upwards trajectory under Vieira and their record of nurturing Championship talent, south London could be the best place for Gibbs-White if a move was to go through.
