Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that Crystal Palace have not walked away from the idea of signing Conor Gallagher this summer.

Crystal Palace secured the services of Conor Gallagher on loan from fellow Premier League side Chelsea for the 2021/22 season, and he was vital for Patrick Vieira after finding the back of the net eight times and chipping in with three assists in 34 top-flight games.

However, Gallagher has since returned to Chelsea, and he was on the bench for the Blues in their opening fixture of the season and came on in the dying embers of the game, which could be a sign of things to come for him.

Gallagher has been linked with a move back to Palace this summer, and whilst speaking with GiveMeSport, Bridge reiterated this and claimed that the Eagles would walk over hot coals to get him back at Selhurst Park.

“That’s not Conor Gallagher, and he won’t want that. He was an England starter for a few games, you know, so he has to be wary of that.

“And I’ve always said all summer that I don’t think Palace have ever completely given up on him. I think they would walk over hot coals to get him back for a second year,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

Gallagher, who has been called a ‘monster’, was Palace’s Player of the Season last term, so it is no surprise that Bridge has claimed that they are desperate to get him back in the door at Selhurst Park this summer.

With the World Cup coming up in November, Gallagher will need to be playing regular football in order to secure a spot on the place, so he might be keen on the idea of moving back to Palace where he will be offered consistent first-team football.

However, Gallagher has spent time on loan with four different clubs, so he might also be keen to stick with Chelsea and when his opportunity in the starting XI comes, to grab it and show Thomas Tuchel that he deserves to be on the team sheet week in week out.
