Journalist Charles Watts has stated that he doesn’t expect any more transfers at Arsenal after what he was told by the club.

Earlier in the summer, the Gunners bolstered their squad with the new arrivals of first-team players such as Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.

However, if Watts’ latest comments are to be believed, it looks as though the spending may well stop there as we head into the final days of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, according to the journalist, the word coming out of Arsenal is that any deals – such as the potential signing of Pedro Neto – are unlikely due to the high transfer cost.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts explained: “Arsenal are still exploring the potential of deals, but it still, in my view, remains unlikely – not impossible, but unlikely.

“That’s the word we’re getting told, we’re getting pushed – that it’s unlikely because of the potential money involved.

“We know they’re interested in Pedro Neto, we know that’s a deal they’d like to get done if they potentially could. But Wolves are in no hurry to sell, they don’t need to sell, they’re in no position to sell.

“He’s on a long-term contract. So for them to be convinced to do business, it would take big, big money. And at this stage, it doesn’t look like Arsenal are willing to go to that sort of level.”

TIF Thoughts on Arsenal and their transfers…

With the summer market set to slam shut on 1st September, there certainly is an awful lot to do if the Gunners are to sign anyone in the next few days.

However, stranger things have happened. For instance, when Arsenal signed Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid, they completed it in a ‘dramatic day’ as they met his £45m release clause with hours to spare before the transfer deadline.

Even so, main target Neto doesn’t seem to have such a clause in his Wolves contract – which was only signed back in March – so it’s easy to see why Watts’ contacts within the club seem uncertain about the likelihood of that transfer.
