Image for Arsenal: Dean Jones thinks deal for Leroy Sané is unlikely

Arsenal’s potential signing of Bayern Munich and Germany winger Leroy Sané is “hard to see” happening.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest potential transfer business at the Emirates Stadium, heading into the final weeks of the transfer window.

According to Blid, the Gunners are one of a number of clubs that are chasing the signing of Sané this summer, with Bayern reportedly setting a £58.6m valuation for the wide man.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has previously told GIVEMESPORT that the 26-year-old is a player that Arsenal admire.

“I think Bayern’s preference is still to try and keep Sané, so that one is going to be a challenge, but it’s obvious they admire the player,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT.

However, Jones can’t see the deal happening, though hasn’t completely ruled out the former Manchester City player playing under Mikel Arteta this season.

“I won’t say it’ll never happen [deal for Sané], because I said that before they paid £72m for Nicolas Pépé a few years back, but it is hard to see,” said Jones.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments

We believe that Arsenal fans will be disappointed to hear that a move for Sané, who has been described as “frightening” by Micah Richards, seems unlikely this season, though Jones has offered a small glimmer of hope.

The 45-time Germany international, who is listed as being most similar to Neymar (FBref), enjoyed a steady campaign for the Bavarian giants last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 15 assists in 45 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

And the Essen-born winger has already proved he is capable of performing in the Premier League during his time under Pep Guardiola at City, scoring 39 goals and providing 46 assists in 135 appearances for the Manchester side, according to the same stats provider.

Therefore, we think that Sané would be a world-class addition for Arteta’s side this season, and the £58.6m rated man’s signing would add to an already very positive feel around the Emirates Stadium this summer.
