According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have winger Moussa Diaby on their radar, but claims agreeing on a fee is going to be the challenge if they are to go for the player this summer.

The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League table after winning all four of their games so far after a hugely successful transfer window where the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have joined, to name a few.

However, it looks like they might not be finished there, as they have been linked with the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Youri Tielemans ahead of the deadline. Another star they could make a swoop for is Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen, but Jacobs insists the fee is the challenge and nothing is advanced at present.

Jacobs said on the EGTV channel: “Diaby has said that he wanted to determine his future earlier in the window and is now on record as saying he’ll stay at Leverkusen, but you never know, we’re in that madness phase.

“The challenge with Diaby is really the fee. And it looks like Leverkusen will hold out for anything between £40-50m, which is quite a high price.

“Definitely on Arsenal’s radar, but they didn’t advance it, and had they wanted to do so, there was an opportunity earlier in the window to potentially progress so they’ve clearly got other targets.”

TIF Thoughts on Diaby…

While the Frenchman has started the 2022/23 season slowly, picking up just one assist in his first four Bundesliga games, Diaby has proven he is one of the hottest young talents at just 23 years old as he grabbed 17 goals and 14 assists in all competitions last term.

He has shown that he can handle the Bundesliga already, but if he wants to make a step up in his career, a move to the Premier League is the move for him. It might be difficult this summer as there is not a lot of time left and Leverkusen are holding out for a huge fee.

Newcastle United have been linked previously this summer and while they are one of the most exciting projects in world football, Arsenal are still at a different level and adding a player like Diaby could take them from an outsider in the title race to a serious contender.

However, it does seem as though this is one for a future window.
