Former West Bromwich Albion and Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu has reacted on Instagram to former teammate Semi Ajayi’s performance for Steve Bruce’s side on Monday night.

The 28-year-old centre-back played the full 90 minutes in the Championship fixture as the Baggies fought back from a stunning Ismaila Sarr goal to take a point in a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns.

The 20-time Nigeria international has proven somewhat of a regular since signing for the Baggies from Rotherham United for £1.5m in July 2019, making 112 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in that time, according to Transfermarkt.

The London-born defender has played for a multitude of managers in his time in the Black Country, working under Slaven Bilic, Sam Allardyce, Valérien Ismaël and now Bruce, suggesting that he has made a positive impact on all of these figures given he remains a first-team regular.

And former player Robson-Kanu turned to Instagram to praise the 6ft 4in centre-back’s performance in Monday’s fixture with Watford.

He wrote: “Keep it up bro @semishems you were phenomenal.”

TIF Thoughts on Robson-Kanu’s comments…

We believe that Robson-Kanu’s comments were justified after Ajayi put in a strong performance for his side, earning the Albion a point against a relegated side which could be vital in the race for promotion at the end of the season.

According to SofaScore, the centre-back rated at 6.8 for his performance during the fixture and won five out of seven aerial duels, as well as making 54 successful passes out of an attempted 64.

We therefore believe that Robson-Kanu was fully justified in his praise for the defender and that Bruce will be delighted to have Ajayi in his side for the season ahead.
