Tottenham Hotspur journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke expects defender Japhet Tanganga to remain a Spurs player this summer.

The Athletic’s Spurs correspondent was speaking about all things transfer related to the north London club on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel.

Reports have emerged recently suggesting a move away from Spurs could be on the cards for Tanganga in the coming weeks with AC Milan believed to be interested.

It is said Fabio Paratici has now flown out to Italy to discuss with Milan about a potential loan deal to see the 23-year-old star play his football at the San Siro for the 2022/23 campaign.

Jose Mourinho was adamant the London-born ace should be playing a right-back and despite Spurs being loaded with right wing-backs, Pitt-Brooke expects Tanganga to stay:

(46:20) “So, my opinion on this and this might turn out to be wrong is that I think Tanganga will probably stay. Now I realise I’m gonna have egg on my face if he end up signing for AC Milan in the next week or so.

“But from Tottenham’s perspective, Tanganga is young, he’s homegrown, he’s versatile. He can play right of the back three, he’s played wing-back. I just think Tottenham like having Tangaanga around.”

TIF Thoughts on Pitt-Brooke’s comments…

We are interested to see where Tanganga’s short-term future lies with it pretty clear Antonio Conte is not hell-bent on keeping the Englishman at Spurs this summer after a season where he managed just 11 league appearances.

But we do feel if Conte does not feel he is in his immediate plans then a move to Milan could be a great move for Tanganga with Fikayo Tomori reviving his career at the San Siro.

Perhaps the biggest issue for Tanganga currently is it does not seem as if he has nailed down his best position yet, and at the age of 23, maybe this could be unearthed on a season-long loan?
