Tottenham Hotspur could still look to add another centre-back this summer on top of possibly signing Clement Lenglet.

Insider Graeme Bailey has been speaking about this possibility on the latest episode of the Talking Transfers podcast where the north London club were discussed at length.

It is reported Tottenham are now closing in on the possible signing of the Barcelona centre-back, Lenglet, with the two clubs locked in discussions.

There is the belief a deal for the Frenchman would be on an initial season-long loan with the option to make it permanent next summer.

However, Lenglet may not be the final addition to Antonio Conte’s backline this summer with Bailey believing the Lilywhites will likely still have their eyes on the market:

“But they’ve gone for Lenglet. It’s a good deal, it’s a loan deal. I agree with Toby [Cudworth], I don’t see it as a major upgrade. I think it’s more of a body than an upgrade in there, but it will mean Joe Rodon is probably gonna be the one who moves out.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Spurs are still in for another centre-half as a big upgrade. I think this deal was there, they’ve got it done, I think it’s an upgrade on Rodon.”

TIF Thoughts on Bailey’s comments…

This should be really exciting for Spurs fans. There may be some frustrations over not being able to land either Alessandro Bastoni or Josko Gvardiol, as it stands.

Do you expect another CB as well as Lenglet to sign?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, providing Ben Davies with some support and then potentially offering Eric Dier with competition, in our opinion, would be great business by Spurs.

Lenglet may not have been many people’s first choice, however, Antonio Conte has been able to get the best out of Davies and if they can then add someone like Gleison Bremer, it would seem like great business on paper.
