Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero was left furious with teammate Emerson Royal in their first pre-season game in South Korea.

The moment the Argentinian was left frustrated was highlighted by reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, who was reporting from Seoul.

Antonio Conte opted to start Emerson Royal at right wing-back against the K-League XI and the Brazilian was given the opportunity to open the scoring in the first half.

After tidy footwork from debutant Richarlison, Emerson was presented with an open goal from just a matter of yards out, but somehow managed to miss the target.

And Gold spotted Romero’s reaction to the miss, with the Argentinian looking far from amused as he threw an arm up in frustration.

Gold tweeted: “Big miss from Emerson Royal. Richarlison goes on a dribble and the ball breaks to the Brazilian who just has to slide it home. It’s a sitter but he slides it wide. Romero does not look impressed.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

This will only add to the frustrations from those around Spurs with the Brazilian, whose end product was under a lot of scrutiny last season.

Should Spurs sell Emerson Royal?

No

Emerson only managed to record one goal and one assist over the course of his 44 appearances across all competitions in the 2021/22 campaign.

And as reports suggest he may be a player who could be headed for the exit this summer, this will surely not do his chances of impressing Conte any favours.
