Newcastle United are showing an interest in Jack Harrison this summer and he would tick a lot of boxes for Eddie Howe.

This is according to the journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the Toon’s transfer plans for the remainder of the window.

It has been reported a new winger is on the wishlist on Tyneside with the Bayer Leverkusen star, Moussa Diaby, believed to be high up on that list – although recent claims have suggested a deal is perhaps unlikely.

However, the Leeds United star is also thought to be a player who Newcastle have on their radar with just two years remaining on his contract at Elland Road.

Reports suggest it would take over £20m to prise Harrison away from Yorkshire this summer, and O’Rourke believes this is a deal which would provide the Toon with a big boost:

“There’s obviously interest there from Newcastle in Jack Harrison – again, who’s been a reliable performer for Leeds in the last couple of seasons in the Premier League.

“Again, a winger is what Newcastle are looking to bring in before the close of the window and Jack Harrison does tick a lot of boxes for Eddie Howe.

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Harrison had another promising campaign in front of goal for the Whites last season despite their struggles in the Premier League as they narrowly avoided the drop.

No

However, we would imagine there will be a lot of Toon fans who will be hoping the club go all out in the coming weeks to land a big name like Diaby.

But we still think Harrison could make a good addition to the Magpies given he already has a lot of Premier League experience under his belt who could also provide Allan Saint-Maximin competition for the starting spot in Howe’s XI.
