Leeds United could potentially pull off a deal this summer for the RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, according to Phil Hay.

The reliable Leeds correspondent was speaking on his latest podcast for The Athletic and he has suggested a deal for the American has potential.

Reports have suggested Adams is high up on Victor Orta’s list to potentially be one of the midfielders to come through the doors with Kalvin Phillips expected to depart.

Adding to the reports, Hay believes there is a willingness on the Bundesliga’s side to allow Adams to make a move this summer which makes this deal a real possibility.

And with recent links emerging over an interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks, Hay has indicated his expectation a move for Adams could materialise:

“But I don’t get the sense that Harry Winks would be the player that they want to come in, in midfield. I have to say it’s not clear at the moment what they’re going to do there, not clear who they’re going to go for.

“I think there’s enough interest and enough noise around Tyler Adams and also enough willingness on RB Leipzig’s part for there to be a lot of potential for that one to come off.”

TIF Thoughts on Hay’s comments…

The 2021/22 campaign was not particularly one to remember for the £15.3m-rated Adams who was only able to feature 24 times for Leipzig in the German top-flight.

So with this in mind, it is certainly understandable why Leipzig may be open to offers this summer with Adams not nailed down as a mainstay in the starting XI.

Jesse Marsch will have a good understanding of what Adams is capable of, however, with Winks already holding a lot of Premier League experience, it will be interesting to see what avenue the Whites explore.

Both players just don’t excite me to be honest. Lack of ambitious on the part of the club
