Leeds United are now set to reward Crysencio Summerville with a new deal amid what has been an impressive start to the summer window.

This has been suggested by Fabrizio Romano on his latest Here We Go podcast as the journalist shared his insight on the latest news coming out of Elland Road.

According to reports, Leeds are now set to make their fifth and sixth new signings of the window in the form of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra but it now seems their current talent is set to be rewarded.

It has been quite the year for Summerville who was demanding to leave on loan back in January during Marcelo Bielsa’s reign at the Yorkshire club.

However, just a matter of months on from this, it seems he is set to be rewarded with a new deal to extend his current contract which has just one-year remaining:

(12:45) “Crysencio Summerville will soon extend his contract at Leeds. He’s a very talented boy. And so it’s another positive news for Leeds who are reinvesting the money they received for Kalvin Phillips, and soon for Raphinha.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

There certainly feels like a sense of Leeds securing their asset in discussing a new deal with the Dutchman as Phil Hay suggests he will still push to leave on loan this summer.

What should Leeds do with Summerville?

Hay has also claimed clubs like Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United have been showing an interest in the 20-year-old, so it could suggest Summerville holds a fair bit of power in negotiations.

With this in mind, we think it would be a smart move from the Whites to extend Summerville’s deal but put him out on loan to gain some experience in the men’s game given he is considered fairly low down in the pecking order.
