Leeds United: Phil Hay issues encouraging De Ketelaere transfer claim

|

Leeds United may have been provided with another boost in their pursuit to land Charles De Ketelaere in this summer’s transfer window.

This has been suggested by Phil Hay who has been speaking on the latest episode of his podcast about the future of the Belgian amid recent links to Elland Road.

It has been claimed the Whites have the 21-year-old on their radar this summer but have faced competition from the likes of AC Milan for his signature.

However, Hay now believes there are major doubts over a potential move to the San Siro with question marks over Milan’s transfer strategy.

With Raphinha’s exit from Yorkshire now seemingly a matter of when rather than if, Hay feels the Whites may have been handed a boost as they look to spend the expected £60m brought in for the Brazilian:

“The feeling everywhere has been that he was gonna go to Milan, and will go to Milan in Italy. But Milan are going through a strange period at the moment.”

“[They don’t have much funds] And also don’t seem that organised this summer. [Or] That decisive. I spoke to somebody in Belgium the other day who said he thought De Ketelaere’s preference would be to go to Italy.

“But certainly, you know, speaking to our guys who know the Italian market, they’re not quite sure what’s going on at Milan at the moment.”

TIF Thoughts on Hay’s comments…

This does feel like a potentially huge boost for Jesse Marsch’s side if they are serious about landing the Belgian prospect in the coming weeks.

Do you expect Leeds to land De Ketelaere this summer?

Yes

No

No

If AC Milan are in for De Ketelaere, then it would be difficult to imagine the youngster opting for Leeds over the current Serie A champions who will be playing Champions League football.

However, with Raphinha’s sale now expected to go through this summer, we think the Whites should look to move quickly on the Belgian to avoid any potential complications further down the line.
