Journalist Joshua Barrie, sometimes seen on Sky Sports, has suggested that Malik Tillman’s proposed move to Rangers isn’t a guarantee.

The Rangers Review writer was speaking on the site’s YouTube channel amid a report from the Daily Record claiming that the Gers were ‘closing in’ on the Bayern Munich starlet.

German outlet Kicker reported that the Glasgow giants favour a loan move to Ibrox with an option to buy which would also include a buyback clause for Bayern.

They also claim that Tillman is having a ‘medical check-up’ ahead of an alleged transfer but Barrie is wary of interest from elsewhere.

According to Sky Sports Germany (via Football Scotland), the 20-year-old is also in talks with ‘several’ English clubs and Barrie still has concerns.

(15:16)”I think it’s still not 100% at the moment purely because there’s such interest from down south.

“Rangers will hope I think to get him in with a loan to buy option.

“From what I understand Rangers are pretty confident in getting Tillman and it could be announced as early as today and I think it would be a really exciting signing.”

Having already secured Rabbi Matondo from Schalke in the Bundesliga this week, prising one of the youngsters from the league’s leading outfit would be some coup for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

The two-time America international has played seven times for the German giants including twice in the Champions League last season playing 13 minutes against Barcelona.

However, the versatile attacker is seeking more regular first-team football and he could well bring his talents to Ibrox sooner rather than later.

Having starred at underage for the Bavarians with 30 goals and 19 assists between the U17s and U19s he made the jump to the second team but after being on the fringes of the senior line-up he could well make his name in Glasgow.
