Journalist Derek Clark has been left blown away by new Rangers signing Rabbi Matondo after he impressed in a preseason friendly.

The Welsh winger made the move from Germany to Scotland earliest this summer as he left Schalke to sign a four-year deal with his new club.

And it seems as though he is already catching the eye in a Rangers shirt. Indeed, Matondo came on at half time in a recent match against West Ham United and went onto assist and then score as he stole the show in the 3-1 victory over the Premier League outfit.

In reaction to the stunning display, Clark wrote on Twitter: “I know it’s a friendly but that was orgasmic football from Rangers…

“Matondo is frightening.”

What will come as good news for fans too, is the fact that Matondo’s assist helped set up another new Rangers signing. Indeed, he teed up fellow summer arrival Tom Lawrence for the opening goal of the match.
During his time with Schalke, the winger only scored twice and failed to claim any assists in his 31 outings, but after such a promising start to life in Scotland, it looks as though he could provide plenty more than that for the Teddy Bears.
Of course, this was only a preseason match, so supporters will have to hold off a while yet before jumping to any major conclusions. But so far, all the signs are promising with Clarke certainly one impressed individual.
