Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson believes that Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos will sign contract extensions.

The talented pair see their current Ibrox deals expire at the end of the forthcoming season, with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirming that the Glasgow giants are in discussions with the duo over fresh terms.

Having already lost Joe Aribo to Southampton and the impending exit of Calvin Bassey looming, the Dutch manager will be keen not to lose any other established stars, but Ferguson feels that they will be sticking around.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he said: “What I like is, in terms of the selection for Gio, he’s got lots of options up there. Different types of players as well, which I always think is healthy to have at a football club.

“There’s still talk about Morelos and Kent – will they stay or will they go. I’ve got a sneaky feeling that they might stay.”

TIF Thoughts on Rangers…

Will Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent leave Rangers this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

It certainly seems Ross Wilson and his recruitment team have been busy this summer in an attempt to broaden Van Bronckhorst’s choices going forward.

Antonio Colak has been brought in at centre-forward to add competition given Kemar Roofe amid his injury troubles.

Tom Lawrence could prove to be a shrewd acquisition on a free transfer, while exciting youngsters Rabbi Matondo and Malik Tillman have been added to the attacking ranks, with the latter joining on a season-long loan with an option to buy from German juggernauts Bayern Munich.

However, being able to tie down their joint top scorer in Morelos (16) from last season and Kent, who provided 20 assists in the most recent campaign, will surely be the best business the club could do this off-season as they aim to reach the Scottish summit once again.
