Celtic’s potential transfer of Paris Saint-Germain and France U19 international Edouard Michut would be “a great piece of business.”

That is according to Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Scottish champions’ transfer business this summer.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic are interested in a £2m deal for the PSG attacking midfielder, but the Ligue 1 champions have told the Glasgow club that they want around £5m for the starlet.

The same report also states that Sevilla, Nice, and Toulouse are also interested in the services of the midfielder, with the 19-year-old having made seven appearances for the French giants last season, and providing one assist during that time, according to Transfermarkt.

And O’Rourke believes Michut, who has been dubbed “the new Verratti,” would be a fantastic signing for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

He said: “There’s been a bit of talk about this one, PSG are holding out for a bit more money, but he’s been highly talked about at PSG for a number of years now, Michut, so if Celtic were able to lure him to Glasgow, I think it’d be a great piece of business for the club.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We agree with O’Rourke in the sense that Michut would be a great bit of business for Postecoglou’s side, and we think that the club would be willing to part with £5m if push came to shove on the deal.

It is not often the signing of such a highly-rated youngster presents itself at under £10m in value, so the Glasgow giants should be doing everything they can to get this deal over the line.

And we feel that if Celtic were to secure the signing of Michut, his integration into the team would be a huge boost in their bid to retain the Premiership title this season.
