Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has revealed that Celtic have a strong affiliation with the agent of target Mohammed Abu Fani.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic are keen to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign, with the Maccabi Haifa midfielder considered a potential arrival at Parkhead this summer.

Following the departure of enforcer Nir Bitton, manager Ange Postecoglou needs options in the engine room, and as per Sport 5, the Hoops were sending scouts to assess the Israel international in the UEFA Nations League last month.

Joseph has now seemingly confirmed that those reports have come back positive and hinted at a possible advantage the Bhoys may have should they decide to make a move for the £900k-rated player.

Speaking on Celtic Fans TV, he said: “Another player who they’ve had good recommendations for is Mohammed Abu Fani.

“Celtic have a very good relationship with his agent, Dudu Dahan, so he’s always trying to help Celtic out when he can, so we’ll see how that one goes.”

Football analyst Julien San James labelled the 24-year-old as ‘mobile and technical’ on the ball, and he could certainly be a steady addition given the demands that will be placed on the squad this forthcoming season.

Abu Fani’s stock has enjoyed a steady rise in recent years, and now at one of the biggest clubs in his home country, he has helped his side to back-to-back domestic league titles in his two seasons in Haifa.

He has also contested Champions League qualifiers while at his current employers and played four times as the team qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, meaning that he would be able to add to the domestic-winning pedigree and European experience currently at Parkhead.
