Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has heaped praise on Celtic defender Greg Taylor following his performance in Celtic’s 2-0 victory against Aberdeen.

It was the perfect start for the Scottish Premiership champions, who took the lead within the opening three minutes when defender, and unlikely goal scorer Steven Welsh. Jota then sealed all three opening days points in the 75th minute.

The Bhoys will be relieved to have gotten off to such a solid start after Rangers came from behind to win 2-1 against Livingston. With both sides matching each other on the first day of the season, we could be set for another back and forth title race this season.

Anthony Joseph took to Twitter to have his say on the performance, and particularly single out Taylor, saying:

TIF Thoughts on Greg Taylor…

After making 17 starts out of 38 games last season, Taylor had plenty to prove in both season and at the start of the current campaign. And, after starting in Celtic’s win over Aberdeen, according to Joseph, the defender was impressive.

He had a whopping 104 touches and won an incredible 14 duels, as well as four tackles and three interceptions (as per SofaScore).

The key is now consistency. If Taylor can perform like he did against Aberdeen every week, then it looks as though Celtic will have themselves a more than capable option at the back. From Ange Postecoglou perspective, he’ll just be pleased to have yet another player ready to step up.

Taylor’s confidence will only increase from here, too. And, with that confidence, will undoubtedly come more performances like today, as Taylor looks to become a constant feature in this Celtic side.
