Ange Postecoglou will likely be looking at Jordan Larsson this summer as a potential addition to his Celtic squad at Parkhead.

This is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the Hoops’ summer business and plans for the coming weeks.

The Bhoys have been linked with a potential swoop for the Swedish striker this summer with the 25-year-old currently without a club.

Celtic have already confirmed the permanent signing of Jota, so there will certainly be competition for a place in the starting XI with Giorgos Giakoumakis and Kyogo Furuhashi available.

With links to the 25-year-old striker, O’Rourke believes he is a player Postecoglou may be looking at, but would need to be certain it is not just a signing because of the family name.

He said: “So [it] might be one that Ange Postecoglou will be looking at, but I don’t think he would sign him just for the fact that he’s Henrik Larsson’s son – he would need to be someone who would improve the team and fit how he wants to see his team playing going forward.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

There will be obvious discussion over Larsson’s links with the Parkhead club given the legacy left behind by his father after scoring 116 goals for the Hoops.

Should Celtic sign Larsson this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, we find it hard to imagine Postecoglou would buy into the romance of bringing the Swede to where his father used to play.

With this in mind, could Larsson prove a useful option for the Bhoys going into the new campaign?

There are certainly signs Larsson has the potential to become a consistent goalscorer having impressed in Russia over the 2020/21 campaign, where he was hailed as a ‘great player’.

So potentially, on a free transfer, this could be a player Postecoglou looks to bring in to bolster his squad for a busy season ahead.
