Celtic fans will be left incredibly impressed by footage of Daizen Maeda’s flicked finish in the Scottish champions’ pre-season clash against Norwich City.

The Japanese forward scored seven goals in 21 appearances last season, as Celtic regained their throne in Scotland. But, he looks ready to improve on those numbers next season, based on his incredible finish against Norwich.

The forward ran onto a ball across the face of goal, before expertly flicking the ball into the back of the net to give his side a 1-0 lead. Whether it is a sign of things to come remains to be seen, though it must be said, it’s a good way to prepare for the campaign.

Celtic don’t have long to go now until the start of the season. In fact, they kick off as soon as 31st July against Aberdeen, as they look to win back-to-back league titles.

TIF Thoughts on Maeda…

Maeda’s finish against Norwich alone is enough evidence to suggest that he is ready to explode into form come the start of the season. And that may just be the difference-maker for Celtic in the title race.

Last season, he showed signs of consistency, with seven goals in 21 appearances. Perhaps next season, as his number of appearances increases, so will his goals. From Celtic’s perspective, it will be a case of the more goal scorers the better when it comes to next season, especially with the number of games that teams are asked to play across all competitions in Europe and domestic action.
