Journalist Anthony Joseph has claimed that Celtic are interested in signing Edouard Michut in this summer transfer window.

Sky Sports has claimed that Celtic are interested in signing Michut, with the Hoops reportedly preparing a bid in the region of £2m for the 19-year-old.

Michut came through the youth academy at Paris Saint-Germain and made his debut for the French side in the 2020/21 season, and last term made seven appearances for the first team.

Whilst speaking with GiveMeSport, Joseph claimed that Michut is on the radar of Celtic this summer, but also that La Liga sides are interested in the 19-year-old.

He said: “As we put the story out, he knocked it back straight away that evening. But we understand that Celtic are interested in Edouard Michut.

“The way that Postecoglou was definitely aware of him, you could tell, because he said, ‘good player, but no’, I think his quote was. We understand other clubs are also interested; Celtic were just one that we were able to name. And I think there’s La Liga interest there as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Joseph’s comments…

Interestingly, journalist Fraser Fletcher said that Celtic signing the youngster would be a ‘great steal’.

Celtic have made five new additions to their squad this summer, although three of those are the permanent signings of Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota, who were already at the club last season – so there have effectively been only two new faces that have been introduced at Parkhead this summer.

Michut is just 19 years old, so he would suit the model that Ange Postecoglou is seemingly going for this summer, as of the four outfield players that he has got through the door so far, the oldest is 24, so Michut would be a good option to progress in the first team in the long term at Celtic if he was persuaded to sign.
