Journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Christian Benteke would be a good option for Wolves in this summer’s transfer window.
There have been reports from The Sun that have claimed that Premier League outfit Wolves are tracking the progress of Benteke after Fabio Silva recently left the club to join Anderlecht on a season-long loan.
Benteke had a mixed season last term for Crystal Palace. He featured 31 times in all competitions but managed to score just four goals and chip in with one assist as he struggled to get a run of games in the side towards the latter stages of the season.
Despite playing a more sporadic role last season for Palace, Taylor spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that Benteke could be a good alternative to Raul Jimenez next season for Wolves due to him being effective if balls are going to be playing into the box.
He said: “I think he would [be a good alternative to Jimenez].
“Those links don’t come out of thin air and although I’ve had no information on it myself, I think with the style, Benteke is still effective, if you’re going to go down the wing and cross the ball.”

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…
Last term was Jimenez’s first full season since returning from his serious head injury, and he struggled to reach the heights that he previously showed at Wolves after netting just six times in 34 Premier League games, when in the 2019/20 campaign, he scored 17 goals.
Benteke is entering the final year of his contract at Palace, so they might be willing to offload him at a reduced fee. However, he might not be the best option for Bruno Lage because of his goalscoring record last term and Wolves had the worst goalscoring record out of all the sides that stayed in the Premier League, so they perhaps need to get a more reliable goalscorer on board.
