Presenter Chris Hamill has slammed Wolves for the summer business in recent windows as former player Vitinha is set for a big money move.

According to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder looks set to join Paris Saint-Germain from Porto in deal worth €40m (£34m).

However, the player was of course recently with the Premier League club on loan but after that spell, Wolves decided not to trigger their €20m (£17m) purchase option.

In light of how things have played out, they may well regret that call and Hamill certainly felt as though it represented some pretty bad decision-making from within the club.

Indeed, he took to Twitter to say: “Absolutely wild that this kid only managed 520 league minutes for Wolves in 20/21.

“Not only that, they turned down the opportunity to sign him for £17m.

“Instead, they’ve signed a 35 y/o to a new 1 year deal & will likely lose [Ruben] Neves next summer (contract ends in 2024). Stinky.”

Were Wolves foolish for not signing Vitinha permanently?

TIF thoughts on Vitinha and Wolves…

As Hamill explains, Vitinha did indeed struggle for game time while over in England. In total, he played in just 22 games for the club, scoring and assisting once each.

Over with Porto, though, he has evidently done enough to showcase his talent and earn a move to PSG for a transfer fee roughly double that €20m figure Wolves could have snapped him up for.

Hamill also points out that with Joao Moutinho not getting any younger, and with Ruben Neves’ contract heading towards its end, they may well be in the market for a new midfielder soon – which does make the choice not to sign Vitinha all the more baffling.
