Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that it looks like both Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves will stay at Wolves this summer.

It looked like Joao Moutinho was going to part ways with Wolverhampton Wanderers in this summer transfer window as his contract was set to expire, but earlier this month he put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him remain with the Premier League side for at least one more year.

Whereas Ruben Neves has been heavily linked with a move away from Wolves this summer, with Arsenal and Manchester United being the two sides that have shown the most interest, but talks have seemingly cooled after his current side slapped a hefty price tag on him which has scared of the punters.

With the Portuguese duo looking like they will remain at Wolves for at least one more season, O’Rourke spoke to GiveMeSport and highlighted how big this news is for the club.

“They’ve obviously kept Joao Moutinho and it looks like Ruben Neves is set to stay at Molineux for at least another season. So again, that’s big news for Wolves there to keep those two midfielders,” O’Rourke said.

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

The midfield pair have been consistent in the heart of the midfield for Wolves since they signed, with neither of them featuring less than 33 times in any league campaign, and in the 2019/20 Premier League season, they Neves and Moutinho both featured in all 38 games.

Although it is a huge boost for Wolves that they are looking like they will keep their two main midfielders this summer, Bruno Lage might be keen to bring some new faces in the door at Molineux before the end of the transfer window, because they have made just two additions so far, and one of them is Hee-chan Hwang who was at the club on loan last term, so Nathan Collins is the only new face in the door.
