Journalist Josh Holland has claimed that he would not be surprised if Morgan Gibbs-White ended up staying at Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

According to The Athletic, Bruno Lage plans to offer Morgan Gibbs-White a new contract in an attempt to keep him at Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, but there has been no indication that he has put pen to paper on a new deal as of yet.

The English midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Wolves this summer, with fellow Premier League club Everton showing the most interest, but they had a bid of £25m rejected for him.

Despite Everton showing interest in the 22-year-old this summer, Holland spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that he would not be surprised if he stayed at Wolves.

“I think the rumours linking him away have kind of gone quiet, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed at Wolves because especially with pre-season now underway, we’ll see if Lage sticks with three at the back or goes to a four.

“The back-four could see him featuring a lot more, so I think by the time Wolves play Leeds, we’ll know where his future lies,” Holland said.

TIF Thoughts on Holland’s comments…

Gibbs-White spent last season on loan with Sheffield United in the Championship, where he impressed after netting 12 times and assisting 10 times in 37 games in all competitions, which could have proven to Bruno Lage that he is worthy to be a regular in the side next season in the Premier League.

However, Gibbs-White might be keen to move elsewhere if he is not promised a place in the starting XI every week at Wolves and head to a club where he will be one of the main men and prove to the Portuguese manager that he is good enough to be playing in the top flight in England.
