Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that ‘people’ at West Ham United feel Jesse Lingard’s move to the club is imminent.
It appears that the Hammers will win the race to sign the 29-year-old permanently, having had a long-term interest in his services.
Since becoming a free agent upon the expiry of his Manchester United contract, speculation surrounding Lingard’s future has increasingly intensified.
At the end of June, Sky Sports revealed that the Irons had made an offer to the man who starred on loan at the club in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.
However, Newcastle and Milan were also interested alongside a raft of other clubs, including Wayne Rooney’s DC United. While David Ornstein ruled the MLS club and several others from the league out of the running, The Athletic journalist disclosed that the 32-cap England international was pondering an offer from Saudi Arabia which would see him earn £10m a year.
Now though, it does seem as if Lingard will return to the East End given Ex’s latest insight.

Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: “Over the weekend, I spoke to a couple of people in the club not based in transfers, but based in important positions within the club – and all of them said to me that they felt that he was on the way.
“One even said to me that it was all but agreed.
“Now, I don’t want to say that just yet, until the fella is at West Ham with a pen in his hand about to sign the contract, because I just don’t trust him and his judgement.
“I have heard that West Ham are, at the moment, his preferred option, and I had heard that it was very close.”

Between January and May 2021, Lingard enjoyed a career resurgence in the capital, scoring nine times and creating a further five in 16 scintillating appearances for David Moyes’ side.
With the World Cup just around the corner, it would be an opportune time to rekindle that form and he could be an outside shout for a seat on the plane to Qatar if he picks up where he left off in a claret and blue shirt.
