Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that West Ham United are close to a breakthrough for both Filip Kostic and Piotr Zielinski this summer.
West Ham have shown an interest in signing Kostic in this summer’s transfer window, with a rejected bid tabled for him around the £12m mark. Another man on the radar of the Hammers this summer is Zielinski and the Hammers have submitted a bid worth £17m for the Polish midfielder.
The Hammers have recently added Gianluca Scamacca to their squad and the Italian forward is their fourth signing of the summer, which takes their spending total to just under £82m.
With David Moyes’ side showing interest in Zielinski and Kostic this summer, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that they are close to a breakthrough on both fronts as they are working hard on adding them to their squad before the window ends.
He said: “It feels like a significant week for West Ham as they bounce back from the Lingard news.
“While all eyes were on Scamacca, they are also working hard on Kostic and Zielinski. It sounds like a breakthrough is close on both fronts.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
West Ham finished seventh in the Premier League last term, narrowly missing out on Europa League qualification for next season, so Moyes will be hoping that the new additions to the squad can make an impact and help them push on to finish higher next term.
If the Hammers were to complete the signings of Zielinski and Kostic this summer, that would likely take their spending to way over £100m, so for them to secure both of these players, they might have to see some of the current squad leave the club to be able to fund the new additions.
Either way, these would certainly be two exciting additions to the squad ahead of the new campaign.
