ExWHUemployee has revealed West Ham United are questioning Manuel Lanzini’s role in the squad and could consider selling the player this summer for a deal over £12m.

The big rumours around the east London club have revolved around Declan Rice as he has been linked with a move away, but it looks like Rice’s fellow midfield teammate could be on his way out this summer.

Insider Ex has revealed that while the club are looking to offer him a new contract once the transfer window is closed, they could be tempted to sell if an offer over £12m was to come in for the Argentinian.

He said on the West Ham Way Patreon page: “Turkish sides are showing an interest in Lanzini, who has one year left in his contract, but we are told it would take a bid in excess of £12m for the club to even consider. The plan is for him to be offered a new deal when the window closes, where talks will continue with other players, too.”

The Hammers were recently linked with a move for former Liverpool star and current PSG outcast Georginio Wijnaldum, and landing the star may mean Lanzini ends up being surplus to requirements for Moyes next season.

Last season, the 29-year-old managed 44 games in all competitions and scored just seven goals with four assists, while averaging a worrying 0.6 shots, 0.8 key passes, 0.9 dribbles and just 0.2 crosses per game for the Premier League side (as per WhoScored).

While Lanzini ranked in the 79th percentile for progressive passes per game with 4.47, he only managed to end the season in the 27th percentile for shot-creating actions and the 24th for assists compared to other attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe’s top five leagues.

With West Ham looking to push towards new heights in the Premier League after their impressive 7th place finish and Europa League semi-final run, moving potential deadwood like Lanzini out in favour of more productive talent could be a likely move for the Hammers.
