Presenter Dan Lawless has urged West Ham United to sign Phil Jones on loan amid their current defensive injury crisis.

As things stand, it looks as though the Hammers are set to lose new defensive signing Nayef Aguerd potentially for up to 12 weeks with an ankle injury.

On top of that, with the new Premier League season fast approaching, question marks linger over the availability of Craig Dawson, Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna.

Taking it all into account, the West Ham Fan TV man has suggested that Manchester United centre-back Jones could come in on loan to help provide some much-needed depth.

Indeed, Lawless took to Twitter to say: “Call me crazy, but I’d take Phil Jones on loan at West Ham.”

Lawless also mentioned on Twitter that due to the current situation, the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Ben Johnson could be asked to play in the middle of defence at the start of the season.

With that in mind, it’s not hard to see why the presenter is so keen for West Ham to bring somebody such as Jones in immediately.

However, considering Jones has spent most of his recent career out on the sidelines with his own fitness issues, it could be a flawed idea to bring in the Red Devil to solve an injury crisis.

Still, with plenty of Premier League experience under his belt, perhaps Jones could come in to do a job in the short term.
