Insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United could be using their agreed deal for Gianluca Scamacca as a ploy to sign Armando Broja.

It’s been long known that the Chelsea striker was David Moyes’ priority in the summer transfer market. However, with no deal forthcoming, it does seem as though the Hammers are looking elsewhere.

Indeed, in a major update, it was reported by Sky Sports that West Ham have actually now agreed to a £35.5m deal for Sassuolo striker Scamacca.

While speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex confirmed the news – saying that the forward has agreed personal terms and is weighing up the move.  Despite this, he said it could all just be a ploy to push Chelsea into selling Broja as they play hardball over a deal.

Speaking on Friday, he said: “West Ham believe that the fee is pretty much agreed now, as are personal terms, and that Scamacca’s weighing up the move to West Ham as we speak.

“Now, there’s a part of me – and this is why West Ham deals are hard to report on – there’s a part of me that thinks this could be a ploy to try and get Broja over the line.

“Because Chelsea are playing very hard to get. They say they don’t want to sell him, that they want to test him out more.”

With 16 Serie A goals last term, it’s easy to see why the 23-year-old Italy international is drawing plenty of attention from the Hammers. And with the bid being accepted, it does look as though this deal is very close.

However, as we all know in football, nothing is ever certain with transfers until the deal is officially announced. With that in mind, there could still be a late twist in the tale to this saga.

Indeed, Broja is undoubtedly a key target for West Ham and they may be desperate to try and speed up negotiations with Chelsea by pushing ahead with the Scamacca deal.

The Blues have certainly not made the deal easy, but with the Hammers now having had a bid accepted for Scamacca, they may have to move quickly if they have any intention of selling their man to Moyes and co.
