According to ExWHUemployee, West Ham United have had a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic accepted – but the wing-back has reservations over the move, including not playing Champions League football.
West Ham have seemingly neared another summer target recently, with reports revealing the Hammers have agreed a £35.5m deal with Serie A outfit Sassuolo for Gianluca Scamacca, finally bolstering their striking options.
It now looks like they are turning their attention to their wing-back options, but could face a challenge as Ex reveals they have had a bid for Kostic agreed – but the player is not sure if he wants to make the move to the Premier League.
Ex wrote on the West Ham Way Patreon page: “As we exclusively revealed over a week ago, the club had bid for Filip Kostic [and] we believe the fee is around £15m. It appears his club are prepared to accept it because the player only has a year left of his contract, however, personal terms are yet to be agreed.
“Kostic has reservations about giving up Champions League football and also the ability to move to any club for free next summer. Again, talks will continue today [Sunday].”
TIF Thoughts on Kostic to West Ham…
After picking up a new centre-back and midfielder so far this window, turning their attention to the wing-back department – an area in which they are thin going into next season – is a great idea for the Hammers.
Kostic would be a great addition to their ranks as he impressed last season at Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and the Europa League, which they eventually won. In his 42 appearances across all competitions, Kostic picked up seven goals and 15 assists.
The Serbian also ranked in the 99th percentile for assist and shot-creating actions, as well as in the 98th for progressive passes received and in the 95th for progressive carries compared to other full-backs across Europe’s top five leagues (as per FBref).
Kostic would bring good competition to the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Vladimir Coufal, who both cemented their positions in recent years. His arrival would also add some much-needed depth ahead of their Europa Conference League campaign as well.
Should Kostic sign for West ham?
