ExWHUEmployee has revealed he wants West Ham United to sign Chelsea starlet and outcast Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer despite the high wages and fee he could possibly demand.

The Hammers have done well in the summer transfer window so far with the additions of Nayef Ageurd and Flynn Downes, however, they are still to address an important area of need in their forward options.

At the time of writing, they only have Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma, and Michail Antonio as recognised forwards in the squad and they desperately need to add depth in this area with the increased amount of football they will play with Europa Conference League football.

ExWHUemployee believes Chelsea youngster Hudson-Odoi would be the perfect player to join the East London outfit amid rumours that Newcastle United are also interested in landing his signature.

He said on The Transfer Show: “Callum Hudson-Odoi, he’s someone I’d like West Ham to move for, I mean he’s got a high wage, but I think he’s got a lot of potential from the wing, and I think a move to West Ham would be good for him, but apparently, Newcastle are looking at him.”

TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments…

Hudson-Odoi has been highly touted since he arrived on the scene in West London but has recently struggled to find consistent game time for the Blues under Thomas Tuchel. Last season he made just 15 Premier League appearances, 11 of them coming as starts.

In these appearances, he managed just one goal and three assists while averaging 1.2 shots, 1.7 key passes, and 1.1 dribbles with 85.3% passing accuracy. Also, according to Fbref, he ranked in the 94th percentile for progressive carries with 9.43 per game and the 92nd for shot-creating actions with 4.82.

With rumours of Chelsea looking to sign Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele, it is hard to see where Hudson-Odoi will find a consistent space in the first team and get enough minutes under his belt to warrant staying at Chelsea. With this in mind and the lack of forward depth West Ham currently boasts, a move to the Hammers would be beneficial for both the club and player.
