Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that West Ham United are the favourites to sign Keane Lewis-Potter in this summer transfer window.

West Ham are reportedly the club leading the race to sign Keane Lewis-Potter before the start of next season, but fellow Premier League side Brentford are also interested in his services and are thought to have tabled an offer of £16m for him.

Lewis-Potter was impressive for Hull City last season in the Championship, as he started every single game in the league for his side, whilst scoring 12 goals and adding four assists, which is what has evidently caught the attention of those in the top flight.

With several clubs showing interest in Lewis-Potter this summer, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that amid interest from Leeds United, West Ham appear to be the favourites in the race to sign him.

He said: “I don’t really see Leeds winning that race, as it stands right now. I still have West Ham as my favourites to get him.

“Brentford and Watford have both had knockbacks on him recently, so I presume they’re still knocking on the door too.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…

West Ham signed Jarrod Bowen from Hull in January 2020, and he has just had an impressive season where he scored 12 goals and registered 12 assists in the Premier League, which was enough for him to be named in the recent England squad.

Lewis-Potter, who was called ‘special’ by former boss Grant McCann, might see this pathway and attempt to imitate the route that Bowen has taken, so the Hammers could have the upper hand over their competitors in the race to sign the 21-year-old.

West Ham just missed out on Europa League qualification last season when they finished seventh in the Premier League, so David Moyes may well be looking to add some firepower to his squad to hope for a more successful campaign next term, and Lewis-Potter could be a wise, cheap option for him.
