Insider ExWHUemployee has slammed the idea of West Ham United re-signing former star man Ravel Morrison this summer as he would ‘disrupt’ the harmony of a squad that is all pulling together under David Moyes.

The Hammers recently confirmed the signing of Swansea City midfielder Flynn Downes to bolster their midfield options ahead of five substitutions being permitted in the Premier League as well as Europa Conference League football next season.

While this signing will surely excite fans of the club, Ex recently revealed there is one midfielder he would not want to see return to the club anytime soon in Morrison, who he believes would ruin the cohesion of the squad and wouldn’t fit in.

Discussing the midfielder on The Transfer Show following his recent release from Derby County: “There is a small part of me that is tempted. If he didn’t have the baggage that we all associate with him, where he could potentially disrupt a very good team spirit and the ethic at our squad, then I would be tempted for his talent.

“But the fact of the matter is, one of the main strengths of Moyes’ squad is the fact that they all seem like good lads, they’re all pulling together, they’ve all got good team spirit. He’s the sort of person that wouldn’t fit with that.”

TIF Thoughts on Morrison to West Ham…

West Ham look to be on the up in recent seasons after finishing seventh in the Premier League last term while reaching the Europa League semi-finals, so bringing in a player like Morrison, who has struggled to find a permanent home throughout his career and previously failed to make the grade at the east London side, seems like a step backwards.

Last season, the 29-year-old plied his trade for Derby under former teammate Wayne Rooney and managed to bag five goals and four assists in his 37 appearances across all competitions. During this time, he averaged 1.9 shots, one key pass and one long ball with an 84.8% passing accuracy.

It sounds like a good thing to bring in a player who was once stated as ‘the best he had ever seen’ by managerial legend Sir Alex Ferguson, but considering how his career has played out, it feels like bringing him in would be a waste of time.
