According to ExWHUemployee, West Ham United’s deal for Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca is on hold as they wait to see how other deals progress as well as some doubt over the forward.
The Hammers’ pursuit of a new forward continues to twist and turn as their race to sign Scamacca and Armando Broja from Chelsea continues to drag on with just over two weeks left until the Premier League begins again.
In the latest twist in the possible Scamacca move, Ex revealed that the Irons hopes to bring in the Italian forward could now be in doubt as the club waits for news on the Broja deal while having doubts over the Scamacca transfer.
Ex wrote on the West Ham Way Patreon, “Scamacca deal appears to be on hold at the moment with the club waiting to see what happens with other transfers. It is also thought that some doubts are coming in over this deal. If and when we get definitive answers on Broja I suspect we will decide whether to continue to go with this deal with us forwards lined up in the background.”
TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments…
While West Ham needs to bring in a new forward to compete and share minutes with their main striker Michail Antonio, they will not want to waste money on a transfer they are not sold on, therefore, stalling the Scamacca deal makes sense.
However, they could do a lot worse than signing the 23-year-old after he impressed in Serie A last season. In his 36 league appearances, he netted 16 goals, which would rank second for West Ham last season, just two behind star man Jarrod Bowen and three more than Antonio.
Moyes favours a move for Broja, who played well on loan at Southampton last season and has the Premier League experience that Scamacca doesn’t. The most important thing is that the manager wants the players he is working with, so if that means West Ham miss out on Scamacca for Broja, in the long-term, it could be better.
