Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in potentially re-signing Kyle Walker-Peters in this summer’s transfer window.
The Athletic has stated that Tottenham Hotspur are thinking about re-signing Walker-Peters this summer as they have a buy-back clause of £30m, which could see him make a return to the north London side, and could be disappointing for his current club Southampton to see him leave against their will.
However, the same report has suggested that Spurs’ rivals Arsenal and Manchester United are also tracking the progress of Walker-Peters, after his impressive performances last term were enough to earn him a call-up to the England squad.
Whilst speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs claimed that both Arsenal and Spurs are interested in the right-back, and whoever lands him will have a superb player on their hands.
He said: “Arsenal are keeping tabs on Walker-Peters, but nothing beyond that at this stage. Tottenham are exploring re-signing Walker-Peters from Southampton.
“I think whoever lands him will land a tremendous player. He was one of the best right-backs in the Premier League last season.”

Walker-Peters would be a good addition to Antonio Conte’s squad as he showed his versatility last season for Southampton. He is naturally a right-back, but ended up playing 23 of his 37 appearances in all competitions on the left side of defence – and still impressed enough to earn himself two England caps.
Tottenham also have a boost over their rivals Arsenal because of the buy-back clause that they have in his contract, as they can presumably skip negotiations with the club over a price and go straight to the player. So if Conte can offer him regular first-team football, the opportunity to play in the Champions League might be enough to lure him back to his old club.
