Journalist Alasdair Gold has reiterated that Tottenham Hotspur could still add another centre-back to their squad this summer despite adding Clement Lenglet to Antonio Conte’s options.

The Spurs correspondent has been speaking on his YouTube channel about what the next few weeks could hold for the north London club in the transfer window.

It was suggested before the window opened that Spurs would be looking to add two centre-backs this summer, and so far, just the one has come through the door.

Lenglet made his debut for the Lilywhites on Saturday with some minutes in the second half of their pre-season clash against Rangers at Ibrox.

However, with the futures of the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon still up in the air, Gold believes Spurs will have another centre-back on their radar.

He said: “I think if they make another central defensive addition – which I think they will, if Rodon and Tanganga possibly head off, maybe even Davinson Sanchez if a bid comes in – then I think they bring in someone else and maybe that’s someone that can either play centrally or on the right, especially if it is Sanchez that suddenly they were going to get a good bid for.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We have been impressed with Tottenham’s business so far this summer and it seems they have now addressed the main areas set out by Conte before the window opened.

Do Spurs need another CB this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, an injury to Ben Davies has already shown how easily those squad options will be required, and if the likes of Sanchez, Rodon and Tanganga are to be sold, we feel another centre-back will be needed.

Also, with the majority of their business chalked off already, we think this will leave Spurs in a great position to monitor the market in case any opportunities arise in the coming weeks, just in case someone like Alessandro Bastoni suddenly becomes available.

I still think we need to give Rodon a proper run out in the side, even if he DOES now look like a character from the 80’s TV programme ‘Monkey’..

Not liking that new look at all Joe!!!
