We Are Tottenham TV’s Simeon Daniel believes Tottenham Hotspur could go in for Memphis Depay late in the transfer window – but doubts whether Spurs will be able to pull off a move.

According to Sport, Spurs have been tracking the progress of Depay in this summer’s transfer window and have increased their interest with an offer to the Dutch forward’s representatives.

Depay signed for Barcelona at the start of last season and had a mixed first campaign in La Liga, finding the back of the net 13 times in 38 games in all competitions while chipping in with two assists.

Amid reports stating that Spurs are interested in Depay, Daniel spoke on the We Are Tottenham TV YouTube channel and stated his belief that there could be a situation towards the latter stages of the transfer window where they could attempt to lure him to north London.

“I think potentially there could be a situation late in the window where if we see an opportunity and we think we could do with him, then something happens, but I think the chances of that situation coming to fruition is getting slimmer and slimmer.”

TIF Thoughts on Daniel’s comments…

In January, Spurs signed Dejan Kulusevski, who impressed after scoring five times and registering eight assists in 18 Premier League games. Meanwhile, Conte has added another attacker to his ranks this summer in Richarlison for £60m, so although they have been linked with Depay, Spurs might look to strengthen other areas of the pitch instead.

Depay has been at Barcelona for just one season, so the Catalans might not be keen to let him leave on the cheap this summer, and with Spurs already spending over £90m, they might not be able to fund another big-money move before they sell some of their current squad members.

A swap deal between Depay and Reguillon is ludicrous. Depay is next season’s dead wood, only he will be a lot harder to offload than Reguillon!.
