Tottenham Hotspur could look to sign another left-back this summer, should Sergio Reguilon leave the club during the transfer window.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This Is Futbol about the north London club’s transfer plans this summer.

Reguilon is one of two out-and-out left-backs at Spurs, with the other being Ben Davies, but with the latter likely to play on the left-side of centre-half, Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic could be set to battle it out for the left wing-back role.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via The Sun) a return to Sevilla could be on the cards for Reguilon, with Barcelona also reportedly interested in a move for the 25-year-old left-back.

And O’Rourke believes that Antonio Conte would like to strengthen the left-back spot, having already added Djed Spence from Middlesbrough on the other side.

“It is a position [left-back] that I think that Antonio Conte would like to strengthen. He’s already strengthened the right wing-back [spot] with Djed Spence coming in from Middlesbrough.

“If Sergio Reguilon does leave the club this summer, with talk of a move back to Sevilla, I’m sure it’s a position he might be looking at.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments

We believe that it would be in Tottenham’s best interests to acquire another left-back to their squad, in preparation for a potential Reguilón departure this summer.

Spurs are reportedly one of the clubs courting Palmeiras and Uruguay left-back Joaquín Piquerez this summer according to Goal France (via the Express) with the 23-year-old thought of as a cheaper alternative to RB Leipzig and Croatia defender Joško Gvardiol.

We think that it would make sense to get the signing of a left-back over the line soon, so that they remain covered in case Reguilón is to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
