Tottenham Hotspur: Insider now drops hugely encouraging James Maddison transfer claim

Tottenham Hotspur may have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of James Maddison this summer, with the player thought to be keen on a move to London. 

This is according to transfer specialist Graeme Bailey, who has been discussing the 25-year-old’s future on the latest episode of the Talking Transfers podcast.

It has been suggested that Spurs are now turning their attention to signing a ‘luxury’ player this summer, and the Leicester City playmaker is on their radar.

At the beginning of the summer, a huge £150m was injected into the club, and up to now, around £90m of this has been spent on their six new arrivals (via Transfermarkt).

Spurs have also been linked with AS Roma playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo, with Antonio Conte said to be a big fan, however, it seems Bailey believes there may already be a Premier League-proven midfielder eyeing a move to N17.

He said: “I think there’s a good chance Maddison leaves as well. From the rumours we’re hearing, he fancies a move to London and he’s on Tottenham’s radar.”

This could well be a huge boost for the Lilywhites as they reportedly look to sound out the possibility of landing Maddison in the latter stages of this summer’s window.

Another positive in the possible race for Maddison is Leicester’s struggles in the market this summer, which has some believing they would now be open to listening to offers for the likes of the midfielder in the coming weeks.

However, there have been some reports suggesting Chelsea are now eyeing Wesley Fofana, so we do wonder whether this may mean Spurs will have to act quickly if they want to sign Maddison.

Fofana has recently signed a long-term extension with the Foxes, so a possible deal would likely cost big money and potentially solve Leicester’s financial difficulties.
