Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to impress star striker Harry Kane this season, and discuss a new contract with him once the season is underway.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke who was speaking to This is Futbol about Spurs’ potential transfer plans during the remainder of the transfer window.

Kane was linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, in a deal worth north of £100m.

However, the England captain was convinced to stay at Spurs, and has impressed since the arrival of Antonio Conte in November 2021.

There has been some speculation about a potential move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich this summer, but this has been rebuffed by the Spurs manager, who labelled the German giants as “disrespectful.”

And O’Rourke believes that Spurs will be hoping to impress Kane this season, and potentially begin contract talks with the 29-year-old once the season is underway.

“I’m sure Spurs won’t even consider any offers for Kane this summer, but the longer his contract drags on and if he doesn’t agree to a new contract, then that does open up that feasibility that he might move on in the future.

“I’m sure Spurs will be hoping to impress him again and maybe sit down with him once the season is underway to discuss a potential new contract.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments

We believe that Spurs fans will be delighted to hear that the club have the intention of opening up contract negotiations for their star man soon, with Kane’s contract having just two-years left to run.

And we think that if Spurs can challenge for trophies this campaign, then Kane may feel that it would be an ambition of his to win trophies with Tottenham, rather than move elsewhere.
