Tottenham Hotspur left wing-back Ryan Sessegnon has sent a transfer plea to reported target Djed Spence on Instagram

The north London club have been heavily linked with a potential move for the Middlesbrough defender this summer, but there is yet to be any major breakthrough after weeks of speculation.

It is believed the two clubs are still in talks over finding an agreement on the asking price for the 21-year-old, with Tottenham believed to be offering around £10m.

Spence was given an extended break over the summer as transfer speculation surrounds the young wing-back, however, it is believed he has now returned to training on Teesside.

But with the two clubs still in talks over a fee, it seems Sessegnon is trying to do his bit to make sure Spence ends up at N17 this summer.

In response to a highlight reel of Spence’s ‘unforgettable’ season, Sessegnon replied: “You know what to do now…”

TIF Thoughts on Sessegnon’s message…

It is worth noting this message will likely have been sent in a joking manner from Sessegnon, who ultimately has very little influence over the matter, with the two clubs remaining apart on their valuation of Spence.

Should Spurs just move on from Spence now?

However, it does show a sign of confidence from Sessegnon in suggesting Spence could be a possible success in north London, with the current Spurs wing-back clearly wanting the defender at Hotspur Way.

And Sessegnon will likely have a good understanding of what Spence – who has been called ‘unbelievable’ by Arsenal legend Ian Wright – will be capable of, having both played their football at Fulham between 2016 and 2018.

If Spurs do pull the trigger on signing Spence, it could certainly make for an exciting partnership on either side of the Spurs defence for years to come, with both players still in their early 20s.
