Tottenham Hotspur may have already suffered their first injury woe of their South Korean pre-season tour, with concern surrounding Dejan Kulusevski’s fitness.
Footage emerged on Monday from the reliable Spurs correspondent, Alasdair Gold, showing the Swedish winger suffering a potential injury scare.
The north Londoners touched down in Seoul on Sunday where they immediately took to the training pitch in an attempt to combat the eight-hour time difference from the UK.
Antonio Conte has already spoken about the gruelling schedule ahead for his players, with double sessions in store to boost their fitness levels ahead of their season-opener against Southampton:
“This week we will work, double sessions and two matches. It will be a good opportunity for all the players, the whole group, to play and for me to use rotation and to bring these players to be fit,” he told Spurs TV.
However, it seems Kulusevski may have already fallen to the demanding schedule, with Gold capturing the Swede as he left the field and walked down the tunnel with the club doctor after appearing to point towards his left heel.
Alongside the video, he wrote: “At Spurs’ latest training session at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. Dejan Kulusevski has just had to leave the session for a little bit of treatment. You can see it in the video below. Hopefully nothing major and just a precaution.”
TIF Thoughts on Gold’s footage…
This will obviously cause a lot of concern among the Spurs fans given it is a potential injury scare to a player who had such an influence on their Champions League push last season.
Who do you expect to start more games under Conte?
Kulusevski
Richarlison
Kulusevski could not have wished for a better start to life in England; having joined in January, the 21-year-old went on to provide Conte with 13 goal involvements in 18 Premier League appearances.
However, if there is a crumb of comfort to be taken from the footage, Kulusevski made his way off the pitch on his own and did not appear to be limping – so fingers crossed this is indeed just precautionary.
