Dean Jones has dropped an exciting claim on Tottenham Hotspur transfer target James Maddison while speaking on The Done Deal Show.

Tottenham have been one of the busiest clubs this summer transfer window, bringing in six new players as Daniel Levy has fully backed Antonio Conte – something that has apparently left the Italian very happy at the club, including during their pre-season tour.

However, they certainly don’t appear to be done just yet, as links to Maddison are refusing to go away this summer, with the Italian said to be keen on landing the midfield maestro, according to Jones.

The transfer guru believes that Spurs should be confident over landing Maddison because of his desire to play at the top level.

He said: “Listen, there are reasons to be optimistic for Tottenham in that James Maddison would love to test himself at that next tier up; he’s such a good player.

Would Maddison improve Spurs?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Once he found his groove again last season, you could see that. Brendan Rodgers himself saying that right now, he’s the best version of James Maddison he’s basically seen.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ interest in Maddison…

Interestingly, the midfielder has been described as a potential ‘amazing signing’ for the north London club.

Despite Spurs seemingly not playing with an out-and-out No 10 under Antonio Conte with his three-at-the-back system, if Maddison is on the market for the right price, it would be very strange for them to ignore him given the impressive numbers he put up last season, as he recorded 18 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

The noises coming out of Leicester also appear to be going in Spurs’ favour, as The Athletic has reported that Brendan Rodgers wanted around six new signings this summer and has so far landed zero, so perhaps they need an injection of cash – and the sale of Maddison would certainly provide that.
