Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that there could be a part exchange deal for Tottenham Hotspur that could get the Pau Torres deal over the line.

There have been reports stating that Pau Torres is still one of the main targets for Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur in this summer transfer window, even though they recently announced the signing of Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona, as their fifth signing of the window.

Giovani Lo Celso spent the second half of last season on loan with Villarreal, where he went on to impress after featuring 16 times in La Liga and played a key role in the side that reached the semi-final of the Champions League when he made six appearances in the competition.

With Spurs wanting Torres this summer, Crook spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that they could use Lo Celso as part of an exchange deal so that they can get the price down a bit for the Spanish defender.

“I was told that there is definitely interest in Pau Torres which brings Lo Celso into play in terms of some kind of part exchange deal,” Crook said.

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

Spurs have made five new signings this summer, so Antonio Conte was not particularly happy with the squad from last season, and he is not looking to stop there as they have made progress on the Djed Spence transfer, and he could also look to bring in Torres to strengthen to defensive unit even further after.

It would be smart business from Conte if he was to offload Lo Celso as part of the deal for Torres because he evidently was not a player that the Italian coach saw being part of his plans, so he would not only get him off the wage bill, but he could reduce the price for a player who Conte actually wants..
