Ben Davies was forced off with an injury as Tottenham Hotspur continued their pre-season with a 1-1 draw against La Liga side Sevilla.

The central defender looked set to stay on at first, before eventually coming off, as described by Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic, who claimed that the injury didn’t look too serious thankfully.

The early signs of the injury will leave Spurs fans feeling incredibly relieved, with the Premier League season getting underway in just under a month’s time. Given the fact that Davies became an important part of Antonio Conte’s side last season, too, playing 29 out of 38 Premier League games, losing him for a long period of time would be up there with the last things that Spurs need.

The game, as a whole, did feature some positives, however, with Harry Kane getting on the scoresheet to give Spurs the lead. That lead did not last long, though, a Sevilla fought back to earn a draw, courtesy of Ivan Rakitic’s strike in the second-half.

TIF Thoughts on Ben Davies…

Davies will be hoping to play an important part under Conte once more next season, even after the arrival of Clement Lenglet from Barcelona. The Wales international has been incredibly impressive since filling in at centre-back, making 4.15 progressive passes per-90 and winning 2.73 aerial duals, as per Fbref, leaving his days as a left-back behind him.

He certainly earned his place under Conte. Now, he has the task of fighting for it in the upcoming campaign, as Spurs look to compete on all fronts, including in their return to the Champions League.
